A TEEN opened his own store aged just 16 after deciding not to go to college.

The ambitious teenager, who lives with his parents at Alsagers Bank, runs the store alone every day.

Josua Mancell-Chesters has opened his own shop, MCS Nutrition, in Alsager, Chesire.

He said he enjoys building his business and getting to know customers.

The Madeley High School alum says he doesn’t feel like he’s missing out on his teenage years and enjoys the challenge of running the Chapel Mews store.

Josua left Madeley High at the end of Year 10 and enrolled in an online school for his GCSEs as his family intended to move to Spain, where he was born.

But when plans changed and they stayed in the UK, he continued his studies online as it gave him the opportunity to work alongside his father, who is the global managing director of a distributor of sports nutrition, at the same time.

When he completed his GCSEs, which included business, Josua, who is dyslexic, was not keen on continuing his education.

Instead, he came up with the idea of ​​opening his own nutrition store.

He revealed that he hopes to make his own branded products and franchise the business in the future.

Avid sportsman Josua, who enjoys boxing, football and rugby, said: “I have tried to have as wide a range as possible in store including protein bars and snacks, vitamins and minerals and protein powders.

“I don’t want people to think it’s just for gym fanatics – there’s something for everyone.

“I have a good work ethic and I like to work hard for something and achieve success. I’ve always had that mindset and I’m pretty good at motivating myself.

“I don’t feel like I’m missing out on my teenage years because I really enjoy running the shop. There’s always something to do – when it’s calmer, I’m working on my website or researching products to never get bored.”

Josua’s mother, Sarah Mancell-Chesters, an executive assistant and accountant, said: ‘We discussed his business plan several times over dinner and agreed that we would encourage his entrepreneurial spirit and the would support in his enterprise.

“With lots of support and guidance from Shane on products and sales techniques and myself teaching him the administrative aspects of running a business, he is already far exceeding our expectations.

“He has established business relationships with many well-known vendors and as the store establishes itself with the local community as well.

“He runs the shop on his own every day while we both work full time.

“He impressed us with his self-discipline and the amount of research he does on products and ingredients to give him confidence in giving advice to callers in the store.”

Papa Shane Chesters added: “With Josua’s ever-growing portfolio of ideas and goals that he wants to achieve, while he is only young, we are more than confident that he will soon succeed in his field. predilection.

“The world of sports nutrition is one of the biggest evolving industries and it’s great that it’s so welcoming and adaptable for young people to be a part of it.”

MCS Nutrition is open at Chapel Mews, Alsager, from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 2pm on Saturday.

Josua is not the only young entrepreneur to have started his own business.
